Time to meet the next member of the ultimate Surrey Cover Band! This time, it's the turn of Sam, our fantastic drummer!
Sam, tell us about yourself...
22 year old London-based musician. Studied music for four years at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. I'm now a touring session musican, spending the majority of my time playing in a different city/country. When I'm not on the road, I spend my time producing and teaching music.
What song reminds you of your childhood?
Well I was brought up playing and listening to church music, so one of my favourites is 'Solution' by Hillsong United.
What was the first CD you bought?
It was actually an Usher album called 'Confessions'!
What was the first band you saw perform live?
Again, because of my church background, it was a group previously mentioned called Hillsong United. But my first gig outside of church was John Mayer!
Do you have any music guilty pleasures?
I'm a massive fan of classical music, rarely listening to anything else while driving!
What was the first gig you ever played?
My first gig outside of the church was probably some dingy little venue called the Ginglik in Shepherds Bush - it used to be publlic toilets...
What was the best gig you ever played?
The best gig I've ever played was definitely in the summer of 2015 - I was fortunate enough to play Hyde Park the day Taylor Swift was headlining during the British Summer Time Festival.
What is your favourite song to play in your function playlist?
It has to be Mercy by the Third Degrees - always creates a good vibe!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time...what's that?! I don't really get too much of it, but when I do, I like to play football or head down to the pub!
